The Group of LDCs, currently chaired by the Permanent Representative of Malawi,activelypromotes and protects LDCs interests in implementing theProgrammeof Action and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. This advocacy takes place throughrelevant conferences, meetings and other intergovernmental and non-governmental processes.
Guided by its core mandate, OHRLLS supportsthe work of the Group of LDCs by undertaking research and analytical workas required by the Chair and Group members.The global coordinationBureau of LDCs, led by the Chair, defends the interest of LDCs and articulates their priorities in various conferences, meetings and other intergovernmental processes through declarations, statements, position papers and other forms of interventions.
The Group of LDCs meets every year at the level of Ministers of Foreign Affairs on the margins of the high-level week of the UN General Assembly. LDC Ministers adopt an annual declaration that determines the Group’s priorities in the General Assembly and other global intergovernmental fora.
